Bern
The trolleybus network in Bern exists since autumn 1940. It had rather moderate dimensions for the first 35 years, before it reached its largest size at the end of the 1970ies, when four motor bus lines were electrified. Despite two line extensions in 2004 and 2005, the trolleybus lost much of its significance in 2006, when the two long and highly frequented radial lines from the station to Bümpliz (13) and Gäbelbach (14) were replaced by tram lines. Currently there are two trough routes (11 Holligen - Neufeld and 12 Schlosshalde - Länggasse) and a radial route (20 Bern Bahnhof - Wankdorf Bahnhof), which all pass Bern's railway station.
